Played a really nice show in Fort St. John last night at Whole Wheat and Honey. We asked for some local secrets and met some great people in the process.
We chased down some local folklore today, but weren't able to find the alleged Buddha Forest.
Rolla Pub tonight and then the Black Dog tomorrow afternoon in Edmonton. #Yeg #Edmonton #Rolla #fortstjohnbc
Went down to BigFork Montana this past weekend for the Spartan Sprint. I trained thinking it was 5 K and 15 obstacles. Arrived to discover it was 5.2 Miles and 24 obstacles. Wasted and incredible amount of energy on the first mile and a half, trying to pass people and run a steep hill. I could have used a lesson in pacing. It was a gruelling experience, but it was fun and I think I'm better off because of it.
It was a good warm up for the couple Western Canadian sprints I want to do later this summer.
Thanks to @marybethfeddema for driving me around, keeping me company and listening to me whine. #spartan #spartansprint #spartanmontana #spartanmontana2016
I got to open up for Fred Penner last night in Lethbridge. Such a great guy and a pro performer. I'm sure Fred Penner's Place had a lot to do with me becoming a musician in the first place.
We had a good chat backstage. I asked him what he was reading these days and he told me about his daughter and about the importance of having a 5 year plan. He said that I really knew how to control an audience and that he misheard one of my stories, but based on the laughter of the audience, he wanted me to tell it to him again.
It was cool seeing him at an +18 plus show as he got a lot more into folk history, Winnipeg culture and his 44 years on the road.
Dave McCann was also on the bill. I've been wanting to meet Dave for awhile, great guy.
I first heard Danny Michel play Newton's Apple on CBC when I was a teenager. I felt like I was almost exclusively exposed to country and punk rock, so that was a big turning point for me. A few years later, I got to see Danny play at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod. Still one of my top five shows I've ever seen. He had a cowboy shirt and converse sneakers on, just like me, and that meant a great deal to me at the time. I've always thought of Danny as a positive role model in the Canadian music scene. I always feel proud when I get to see him play big stages now.
The new record is my favourite DM release. I finally got to spend time with it while driving through SK on a solo tour and it made me cry a few times. It made me remember why I'm still a fan after all these years, and why I enjoy playing music. Thanks Danny. @dannymichelmusic @sixshooterrecords
Hanging with Murray today in the studio.
On Sunday May 8th I'll be running a Spartan Sprint in Montana at 8 AM, then I'll be opening for the great Fred Penner and Dave McCann at 8 PM in Lethbridge. 7-year-old Tanner is fist pumping, 30-year-old Tanner is training and practicing. @fpenner5 #Lethbridge #FredPenner
Got to cap off the solo, prairie tour by opening up for John Wort Hannam at the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current. Great venue, great show. I've wanted to play there for a while now. Thanks to @blackbridgebrewery for sponsoring the last two show I've played. I've tried the bulk of the fleet now. The IPA is deadly. #SwiftCurrent @johnworthannam

I can't tell if I'm on tour or on vacation. @brodycancade and @shytrav have kept me fed and watered in the Queen City. That's a Hawaiian shirt I've had since Grade 8, that I packed for the occasion.
#Winnipeg and #Regina down. #Prince Albert, #Saskatoon and #Swift Current coming up.
